Decking Material Calculation
Step 1: Multiply Length x Width = m2 (eg. 7m x 3m = 21m2)
Step 2: Divide board width by 1000 (eg. 86mm/1000 = 0.086)
Step 3: Find the gap width you'll be using and divide it by 1000 (5mm/1000 = 0.005)
Step 4: Add board width to gap width (0.086 + 0.005 = 0.091)
Step 5: Find the linear meters by dividing m2 by total of board/gap width (eg. 21m2 ÷ 0.091 = 230.76LM)
Step 6: Allow for 10% wastage by multiplying 230.76LM x 1.1= 253.83LM
Step 7: Round up number and the total linear meters required = 254LM
