Australian Hardwood is perfect for any fencing and landscaping projects that doesn't require any structural ratings. The most commonly used species for hardwood posts are Spotted Gum, and Ironbark. Due to its H4 treatment, this Australian Hardwood Sleeper is an ideal choice for many people who want to spruce up their house with a retaining wall, garden bed or can be used to level fences if the ground is uneven.
Hardwood posts are known for their durability and resistance to rot, decay, and insect damage however, the H4 treatment these posts go through involves impregnating the wood with chemicals to protect it from decay and insect damage. The process involves placing the timber in a pressure vessel and subjecting it to a vacuum to remove any air inside the wood cells. The vessel is then pressurized, and the preservative chemical is forced into the wood under high pressure. The timber is then allowed to soak in the chemical solution to ensure complete penetration before it is removed from the pressure vessel and allowed to dry.

- Avoid exposing hardwood posts to excessive heat, such as from direct sunlight or heaters, as this can cause the wood to dry out and crack.
- Keep the hardwood posts dry and well-ventilated to prevent mould and mildew growth. If the wood becomes wet, dry it thoroughly before applying any finish.
- Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasives on hardwood posts as they can damage the wood's finish and weaken its structural integrity.
